If your child was born without an ear (anotia) or with a very small underdeveloped ear (microtia), we have options to rebuild his or her external ear. An absence of an ear can often impact our confidence in how we look; it can sometimes be a source of teasing in school or inability to wear glasses. The experts at Kansas Cleft and Craniofacial Center can rebuild the whole or portions of your ear. We usually use your child’s own rib cartilage to precisely sculpt an ear framework that mimics the other side. We also work closely with our Ear-Nose-Throat specialists to determine if hearing can be improved and if an ear canal can be constructed.
